About me...

Irish Genealogist and Family History researcher photo

is the website of Family Lines which is a small company owned and operated by me, Michael Walsh.

From my home on the west coast of Ireland, I regularly use archives in the Republic of Ireland and in Northern Ireland.  This enables me to easily access huge collections of genealogical records which are invaluable in researching family histories and helping people trace their Irish roots.

After graduating from University College London, I worked for several large British and American companies managing capital programmes and large IT projects.  More recently, I have become involved in developing and presenting IT training courses in Ireland.

Family history

During my life I developed a keen interest in genealogy and spent a lot of my spare time unravelling my own Irish and English family history across Co. Armagh and Co. Clare in Ireland and Lancashire in England.

Irish ancestor

Having recently retired from full-time work, I have been able to devote more time to my passion for genealogy.  I have done work for several family members and friends and have been encouraged to offer my services to a wider audience.

I am a member of AGI (Accredited Genealogists Ireland), which is the accrediting body for Irish Genealogy and the leading professional organisation of family history and related professionals in Ireland.

I fully subscribe to the AGI Code of Practice.

My aim is to offer a reliable, and friendly service that helps people discover their Irish roots.

I provide reliable, thorough and meticulous Irish Family History research and a range of services to assist those who are researching their own Irish ancestry.

Genealogical skills

My business background and project management expertise supplemented by extensive training experience has given me a set of skills that are particularly useful in modern genealogical research.  I have a very logical and methodical approach to gathering and analysing information, strong problem-solving skills, good attention to detail and the ability to think laterally.  In addition, I am computer literate and am familiar with using genealogical software.

Irish connections

My aim is to help people with Irish connections discover more about their ancestry.  I am particularly interested in Irish families who have left Ireland and started a new life in the USA or Britain. Since I am based in Ireland, I am also able to assist those who do not live in Ireland, but need a reliable person to do some local research for them.

My main focus as a genealogist is to provide a range of services to meet the requirements of people trying to uncover their Irish connections. These include fixed-price family history packages, genealogical tours and bespoke family history research commissions.

I will always endeavour to deliver exceptional service which represents value for money in a friendly and professional manner.
